Concept

Do you have ideas, drawings, or pictures that describe your inspirations? We can explore concepts and ideas together to meet your tastes and requirements.

Inspiration can come from many different sources. Some people have a very good idea of what they want in which case we only need to work out the details for your particular finger size, stone shape and sizes etc. But often we combine aspects from different sources. You may want to combine design elements of pieces from our gallery, or utilize architectural elements you’ve found, inspirations from nature, or a quick doodle on the back of a cocktail napkin.

Our design team can help guide you through the process, working with you transform your ideas into a beautiful and practical piece of jewelry art. Once the concept has come together it’s time to get an idea of what it’s going to look like…

Rendering and Wax

We’ll help give visualization of your ideas either with pencil sketches, computer images (CAD) or an artist’s colored rendering. We then create a wax model, either by hand carving or computer created (CAM) for all cast pieces.

In this step, our goal is to give you the best idea of what your creation will look like once all of the aesthetic goals and practical elements are in harmony. The particulars of each design dictate the best method to render your piece. Some designs tend to look a little harsh when rendered by computer in which case an artist rendering is much more accurate.

Likewise, details of your design dictate whether we will fabricate(hand make) your piece or cast it from a hand carved or computer created wax model. There is no wax model used for fabricated pieces, and generally they do not involve computer imaging.

Fabrication and Casting

Your item may be made entirely through forming and creating directly from metal; this is referred to as “fabricated” or “hand made”. Or your item may utilize a wax model to create a single use mold which is used to cast you piece.

The practicalities of a particular design are what determines the best method to make your piece. Both processes utilize a combination of centuries old and 21st century state-of-the-art techniques and equipment.

Finishing

This is where all the pieces come together and the finishing touches are put on your customized item. We polish, add the necessary components, set gemstones and literally make your work of art shine.

Really this is a continuation of the previous step for a fabricated piece, seeing it through to completion

But for a cast piece it is the process which begins once the wax becomes metal.
